Not sure if I'll keep writing these every day, probably not.
Though in 2017 I did a writing challenge for bloggers - wrote a post every day to a blog with 0 readers. Even these posts here - I don't put them anywhere except the website, for people to stumble on. Idk. They're not worth it yet, maybe?
Anyway.
I got reminded again of a story from my childhood, though not that much of a childhood. We moved to a new city as a family. My parents wanted to get me to join some hobby club or something like that. It's hard to translate. Extracurricular activities, but not related to a school at all.
We've heard there was something related to programming. A programming circle for kids where they learn the basics of working with computers. We went there. They told us "okay, but we want to warn you in advance, we're using Linux here, is that okay?". My parents didn't really know the answer. I only heard a bit about Linux at the time, not having any idea what it was. So I said "ah, yeah, no, I'm fine then", and I didn't join!
Now I'm using Linux all the time, and I haven't learned the basics of computers and Linux and programming for a long time after that. I could have been so much ahead of current me! Well, of course there are other things that would have gone differently, so I don't wholeheartedly regret not joining. But in hindsight it does seem like it was a potential pivotal moment of my life, a huge change that I didn't take.
