I stopped opening twitter and suddenly I have so much more energy to do other things. I didn't even realize how big of an attention sink it was.

It's much easier for me to do things when there are rules. For example, write something in the journal every day (or every two days) instead of whenever I feel like it. Don't open twitter instead of trying to open it less. Work while you're physically at work instead of doing work at home while gathering my will to keep doing it.

Even these journal notes. It's easier to write them if I have prompts. When I was doing a post per day think in 2017 (I think it was 2017?), it was easy because there were prompts. What are your plans for the year? What interesting thing have you seen outside? And so on.

Well, this year I'm focused on my journey to Japan. And I've heard thousands of times that gratitude journals were good. So let me do the following: a post per day, containing at least two things. "What am I grateful for since the last post?" "What steps have I taken to get closer to my dream of studying in Japan?"

Today.

Grateful: people who organize events. I'm going to a JP speaking club. Last year it struggled with members, but this year there are so many, and the organizers keep inventing nice ideas and topics. And it's the free one, though I don't feel like the paid one is done for the money. I have a friend who has that skill and I'm still wondering how she does it.

Japan: well, I'm going to the club today to get some practice. But that's future, that's cheating. I tried watching some JP vtubers instead of the EN ones, so there's that. Turns out I missed yesterday's Anki even though I thought I did it. I guess I'm working, which is more money and more integrity, which indirectly translates to being the kind of person who gets to Japan.

Actually, that "being the kind of person" thing sounds good. Let me write about it [[Posts/Being the kind of person who]].
